The Occupy Conversation is Changing. Now.

I have spent every day since Occupy began getting to know every side, every reaction, every emotion, every opinion, etc. I’ve spent months listening to people talk. I spoke to Occupiers, Anti-Occupiers, police, mainstream media, residents, tourists, legal observers, Anons, trolls, and anyone I could get to speak to me.

Until now I haven’t felt confident enough to say what I’m going to say. I now have the knowledge and experience to say what needs to be said.

The vast majority of people I’ve spoken to are looking at Occupy as a “reason to get together to complain about a problem and celebrate like anything’s been accomplished after an unorganized march.”

Everyone is angry. Everyone wants a solution. Everyone is scared. Everyone is tired. But we are not going to give up.

Yes, we are angry. Yes, things have to change. In order to see the change we have to be the change.

Everyone is looking for a solution. A lot of people have said they feel like we’re all waiting for something to happen again- the same feeling we all had before Occupy began. We are all living in parallels of one another. We are all connected in and by the universe. If you deny it you are a fool. We are all in this together.

The solution is here and the time is now. This is what the entire purpose of a leaderless movement is about. I am being my own leader. I am being the change. If you don’t agree with my solution come up with one of your own and go for it. You can do it!

The solution is simple to the point you’re going to think this is a trolling. It is not. I have never been more serious nor sure of anything in my life. I have the answers. Everyone has the answers. For too long we have let fear convince us we are wrong. We are not.

You want to see change? Change yourself. If you want to see the change you have to be the change.

You want to end wars? End the war with yourself. We can not have peace with others until we have peace with ourselves.

Stop pointing fingers. What did you do to stop the bad things from happening? Did you stop them or die trying? No? Then you gave up at one point and let it happen. We are all responsible for the problems in the world. The systems only exist because we let them. There’s nothing to destroy but our own selfish egos or ourselves.

You are not a victim. You are letting fear control your life. Stop it. You are better than anything that brings you down. You and you alone are in control of your life. Get back behind the wheel, turn off cruise control, and go be the best you can be. We are all depending on it.

More than anything- take responsibility for yourself. Accept your own actions. Accept your own inaction. This is what it means to be responsible. We are all responsible for this world.

We need to put more focus on solutions. We have to stop making demands. We need to set goals and have conversations on how to accomplish them together. This means speaking to police, politicians, main stream media, etc. Stop telling them what they did wrong. Start asking them how we can work together to make it right.

Stop focusing on the past. Put your energy into making the best future possible. Stop focusing on the bad. Keep working towards the good.

I promise you that if we start working on this together we will see change. If we put in the work we will get the results. The more positive our message becomes the more people will want to be involved.

Yes, I am going to be working on this with you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, we can do this together.

There is no time to fight each other. The conversation is changing, and it’s changing now. I’m not asking for permission to change it- I’m asking that we do it together.

  1. I am just glad people are still talking about it… so many people are quitters or are loking for the easy solutiin, or simply ae overwhelmed by how big of a whole we are standing on the bottom of looking up trying to figure out how to get out.

If you are into the #OWScategory check my blog i have tons of information on ways you can be a part of the solution.

  2. What a great post and thank you for having the courage to express this so directly – I definitely agree that we all need to take responsibility for our lives and what we are expressing in the world – we need to face ourselves and own our ‘stuff’ – this is how we can step into empowerment and really make a difference. Victim and Martyr stories are redundant and it is time we start scripting new stories for ourselves and the world we live in, as these become our reality. Change definitely begins within and yes, I agree, let’s do this together!
